South Uist Accommodation
South Uist accommodation, located in Geirnish, Bee View offers stunning unobstructed views over West Loch Bee.
The location is in an ideal position for trout fishing (See separate link) Bird watching from the van (at the resident Sea Eagle) or down by the the RSPB site at loch Druidibeg only 3 miles south of Geirnish.
Moreover, the statue of our lady of the isle is a recommended walk and offers stunning views over the Machair and beyond .
Red deer and Sea Eagles are commo and often seen on West Bee.
The famous 3 peaks of South Uist, namely Heckla, Ben Mhor and Corrodale, can all be accessed on foot.
There are miles of sandy beaches on the west side of the island.
Further South there is the remains of the Hallan Roundhouses & Kildonan Museum.
Golf
Firstly Visit the famous Askernish golf course on the machair, designed by Old Tom Morris. Secondly There is also a smaller 9 hole course up in Benbecula by the airport .
If you like relaxing, fishing, walking or golf there are always something to explore.
A short journey North offers a cracking walk up Ben Lee, which is way-marked. A very interesting walk when you come along the remains of the USA aeroplane which crashed on the hillside. There is Langass woods where you will come across the wood carving of Hercules the bear.
Ornithology
Visit RSPB Scotland Balranald, this beautiful Hebridean reserve has sandy beaches, rocky foreshore, marshes and sand-dunes with wonderful wildlife to spot all year round.
Look out for oystercatchers and Greenland barnacle geese in spring time, and in the summer listen out for the sound of jangling keys from the corn bunting’s song. In autumn you may catch a glimpse of a hen harrier or a peregrine, and in the winter whooper swans and teals make Balranald their home.
